I'm Here For a Good Time, Not a Long Time: Croatia
I cannot believe how amazing Croatia has been! I am sad about leaving all of my great new friends. Now I am sitting at the train station so I will go back and tell you about the second half of my time in Croatia! The title of my post comes from one of the friends I made on this trip, we were at supper when she said I'm here for a good time, not a long time. I thought it was awesome and hilarious! We used it a few times throughout the week like: Should I jump off this bridge?
Plitvicka Jezera
Here I am, finally in Croatia! Honestly I probably didn't even know Croatia existed until I saw a picture of this national part, Plitvice Lakes National Park (Nacionalni Park Plitvicka Jezera) 4 years ago. Ever since I saw the picture I've been very excited at the prospect of one day going to Croatia! I arrived a day before my tour started, I got to Zagreb on Friday. On Saturday I explored Zagreb, which was a great city, until my tour picked me up at 5. Zagreb was really cute
Slovenia!!
I am so happy that a guy I met in Prague told me to go to Slovenia! My time there was short but wonderful! I took the train to Ljubljana (which sounds like Lubliana and I love the way it sounds!) then I took a bus to Bled. My hostel was right on Lake Bled! Right when I got to Bled I was walking by the lake to my hostel and the sky looked incredible! I couldn't believe my luck! I've seen pictures of Lake Bled that were amazing and I felt like I had a chance to take an amazing
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
Salzburg is definitely a part of my favorite things now, it was magical! Everything Sound of Music for three days! It was wonderful! I have been dreaming about going to Salzburg and doing the Sound of Music tour for years and the day finally arrived! On Sunday when I got to Salzburg I was very worried because it was rainy and I didn't want the weather to interfere with my Sound of Music filled days! Although I took a bus and got off on the wrong stop then walked a mile in the
Vienna, Apparently I'm Austrian
I only got to spend a couple of days in Vienna but the entire time I was there people kept walking up to me and speaking in German. This may not seem like anything to you but this is the first place I've been to where people haven't automatically thought I was a tourist and started speaking in English to me. I had to tell people over and over again that I didn't speak German, I even had two people come up and try to ask me for directions! Little did they know I was as lost as
Wanderings of Prague
Prague was really wonderful! It was very similar to Budapest and I was told that most people like the one they went to first the most. I'm not sure about that, right now they are very close, almost tied because I liked both cities so much! When I first arrived to Prague is was around 6pm so I had plenty of time to walk around the city. Someone in my hostel told me to walk along the river then go up to the castle for a great view of the city from the Royal Garden. This would b
The Grand Budapest Hostel
I love Budapest!!! I didn't have any expectations when I went to Budapest, I didn't even know very much about it. Ok I admit it, I didn't know anything about it and it ended up being amazing! I got to Budapest around 9pm on Wednesday and I was expecting to just crash at the hostel for the night. Right as I was checking in, all of the workers said they were going with a group to watch the Portugal vs Wales Euro Cup game. They invited me to come along! I dropped my bags and wen
Greek Bus Drivers Are the Real MVPs
If you can't tell from the name of this post, I've had some great bus drivers on my trip here in Greece and you will hear about them in this post. We ended our bus tour on Sunday sadly. I had a lot of fun, the people in our group were great! I also loved our bus driver, Dimitri (the one who looks like Robert De Niro). He parallel parked a bus and squeezed us through streets that I never thought would be possible. There were times when I looked out the window and saw trucks ju
Big Greek Stones
Well I think that just about sums it up, thanks for reading! Just kidding, but I really have seen a ton of big stones of all kinds the past couple of days. I can't believe it is already July! Where has the time gone? Yesterday we drove all morning to get to Delphi (I've also seen it spelled Delfi so I have no clue which way to spell it). On the way we drove over a large bridge that looked like the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston! This one had more posts, four instead of two
Trekking Across Greece
My mom and I have begun our journey across Greece with our tour group on Tuesday. The first couple of days we were in Athens. We got to see the original Olympic stadium (of the modern Olympics), the Acropolis and Parthenon, then we walked around a lot. I loved the Acropolis and Parthenon! It was so big and beautiful I just wonder what it would have been like to see it in person before it was destroyed. I love hearing about the Greek mythology of each city. Apparently Athena a
